Bishounen.orG -- Miaka's splendid site. Now you'll see why she
doesn't do too much here at COM.com!
Niko-Niko.net -- The homepage of Emi-chan! She's awesome! Winamp
Skins, amazing fanart, a Cowboy Bebop page... yay!
Keekiland -- Rejoice, for now the good cake-loving peoples of the world have made a
page devoted to their love of cake, Shoujo manga, and other fun things! The Cats on Mars
have allied against the evil Mari Ijima with our Keekiland neighbors. Glory to those who
would defeat MariIjimaland!
Genkiland -- Home of
Priya and Kristi. Excellent Cowboy Bebop and Fushigi Yuugi pages, among many others.
SinFest -- God puppets, religious fanatics, beatnik poetry,
a cat, and a dog. SinFest is actually a lot tamer than the name suggests. Parts
of it are pretty funny, but the Pimp/Ho jokes get old. Unlike our next comic...
Sluggy Freelance -- Read it from the beginning; it may take a few
days to get caught up, but the continuous twisting and intertwining of story
arcs make for one of the most fascinating serials on the web. The characters are
believable even under ridiculous circumstances, and the various styles of art
help to emphasize the strip's more serious moments. The only downside is the
load of shit from Shirt-Guy Tom.
Okashi na Okashi (StrangeCandy)
-- The work of friends Emi-chan, Tanzy, and Rin,
StrangeCandy sends a group of
strangers to a bizarre world, exploiting a lot of anime genres and stereotypes
in the process.
Anime Web Turnpike -- The definitive place to go for anime links. Now
you can one-up those Fuckin' Otaku when they claim THEY'VE got
the inside tool on Anime websites--all they've got is Anipike!
see.you.space.cowboy -- Priya's Cowboy Bebop page. Cowboy Bebop is a must-see! So is
this page! :D
Nausicaa.net -- Team Ghiblink. The most up-to-date, anal-retentive source of
information about Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli films. =) A great page.
Bishounen.Org/Niko-Niko.net/Keekiland/Genkiland
The Yoko
Kanno Project -- James
Wong has created one of the most up-to-date, convenient, excellent Yoko Kanno pages on the
web. (Chiriko's contributed to this page in the past. ^^) A perfect place to hear realaudio
samples from YK albums, then find out how to buy them (legitimate copies, of course!)
directly from there! =)
Tenkuu no Kanno Yoko -- A wonderful cornucopia of YK info. =)
Hajime Mizoguchi's Page -- Mizoguchi is a skilled cellist and wonderful
composer as well, often working with Kanno; together, they form a wonderful duo, and
co-composed the soundtrack to Vision of Escaflowne. Among Kanno's earliest anime
works is the theme to Please Save My Earth, which Mizoguchi scored.
EX Interview with Yoko Kanno -- Some insights into different aspect of Kanno's
life, music, and personality. =)
Yoko Kanno News Page -- A very
straightforward and excellent source for the latest releases and news regarding
YK. Matthew conveniently includes direct links to CDJapan and keeps on top of
the newest releases from YK; there's also a translation available of a really
inspiring essay by her.
Maaya Sakamoto Official Website
-- A young
singer who hopefully will go quite far and has improved greatly in the past few
years. ^^ In case you're not familiar with her,
Maaya Sakamoto is a singer and voice actress whose albums and songs are written
& produced mostly by Kanno. Maaya's done a lot of songs and themes for works
that Kanno has scored, such as Vision
of Escaflowne, Brain Powerd, Napple Tale, and, most recently,
the drama Other Side of Midnight. (She's also sung themes
to Card Captor Sakura, Clamp Campus
Detectives, and Record of Lodoss War, among
others...)
Seanbaby.com -- Seanbaby is a folk hero of sorts, a sarcastic, witty, and fun
guy who seems to embody our generation--hell, we all grew up on Nintendo. Not to be
missed: The Adventures of Mark Discordia!
The Onion -- There are few things in life more wonderful than
reading a fresh new Onion each week. If you've never heard of the Onion--what, have you
been on Mars, with your fingers in your ears, and your eyes closed?--do check it
out.
Michael Moore . com -- Michael
Moore's website.
Something Awful -- The folks at
Something Awful take stabs at everything from Scientology to the state of
Indiana to Furries, and are constantly on top of the most horrifying pornography
Japan has to offer. Much to be enjoyed!
PockOtaku -- Providing Japanese snacks to all! What? The
prospect of Online Pocky doesn't sell? The dot-com bubble bursts. Oh well! Looks
like it shut down, but I will keep the link forever as a reminder of otaku
stupidity. :D UPDATE: It's now back under the umbrella of Japanese Snacks
DOT COM!!!! How incredibly stupid! =P
Mari Music -- Mari Ijima, washed up voice-actress of Minmay from Macross,
masturbation fodder to otaku everywhere, and all-around primadonna, is now trying to make
it in the USA as an actress. So far, the only gig she's been able to find is on
"Pacific Blue"-and she was so bad, they cancelled the show. Oh well, better luck
next time, Mari.
Shinji Suzuki's
Christian Review of Anime & Manga -- HA! It's still around! Although
the site hasn't been updated since its original conception, this delightfully
Christian newbie otaku tells us which pages to rip out of our Ranma 1/2 and
Sailor Moon manga. Now decent Christians can be alert and shield their eyes from
the parts of Ninja Scroll or Blue Seed that might force them to commit the sin
of lust! I'm just glad I don't
believe in mythology... or the shitty anime this guy watches.
